RustDesk
Open-source remote desktop app you can self-host, with paid Pro server plans for teams.
Our verdict
What it does well
- Client is AGPL-3.0 licensed and the code is public on GitHub
- You can run your own server with Docker, keeping data on your own hardware
- Free open-source tier at $0; Pro plans are annual only, with no auto-renewal
Where it falls short
- Free tier lists only online status and community support
- You set up and maintain a server yourself if you want to self-host
- Pro features such as SSO, LDAP and audit log require a paid plan

RustDesk is a remote desktop and remote support app written in Rust. Its site lists Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, plus a web client you can host on your own domain, and its documentation lists iOS as well. Its GitHub page calls it a self-hosting alternative to TeamViewer.
The client code is on GitHub under AGPL-3.0. You can use the project's public rendezvous and relay servers, host your own, or write your own. Self-hosting is done with Docker using an OSS or Pro compose file, and the site says you can brand the client and configure more than 90 options.
The pricing page lists a free open-source tier ($0, online status and community support) and Pro server plans billed annually only: Individual at $11.88/month (1 login user, 20 managed devices), Basic at $23.88/month (10 login users, 100 managed devices), and a Customized plan from $23.88/month with add-ons of $1.20 per extra user and $0.12 per extra device. Larger plans are available through sales.
