Our verdict

Notion suits people and teams who want notes, docs and databases in one shared workspace. Skip it if you want private notes stored as plain files on your own device.

What it does well

  • Free plan with unlimited blocks for individuals
  • Free plan includes databases with subtasks and dependencies
  • Apps for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, plus a web clipper

Where it falls short

  • Free plan limits uploads to 5 MB per file and keeps 7 days of page history
  • Blocks are limited on the free plan for teams of 2 or more
  • Notes live in Notion's cloud, not as files you hold on your device

Notion describes itself as a workspace where teams and agents work together. Its site groups the product into capture, find (answers with citations) and automate (agents).

Pricing has four plans. Free is $0 per member per month for individuals. Plus is $10 and Business is $20 per member per month, and Enterprise is custom priced. The page has a monthly/yearly toggle and says yearly saves up to 20%, but does not say which term the shown prices use.

The Free plan has unlimited blocks for individuals but limits them for teams of 2 or more, caps uploads at 5 MB per file and keeps 7 days of page history. Plus lifts block and upload limits and extends page history to 30 days. Business adds Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, SAML SSO and 90 days of page history.
