Notion's free plan has unlimited blocks for individuals but limits them for teams of 2 or more, caps uploads at 5 MB per file and keeps 7 days of page history. Plus is $10 per member per month. Anytype's free plan has 100 MB of remote storage, 10 shared channels and unlimited private channels, and paid plans run from $4 to $16 per month.
Anytype stores your vault on your device. Its site describes local encryption where only you hold the keys, offline use and peer-to-peer sync on local networks. Notion's notes live in Notion's cloud rather than as files on your device.
On platforms, Notion has web, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android apps plus a web clipper. Anytype has Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android apps, but no browser version was found.
Neither is open source in the OSI sense. Notion is closed. Anytype publishes its desktop client's code under the Any Source Available License 1.0, which restricts use to non-commercial purposes or approved networks, so we do not list Anytype as an open-source alternative.
