Our verdict
What it does well
- Free plan includes limited Agent and Chat usage at $0
- Based on VS Code and imports extensions, themes, settings and keybindings
- Desktop app on macOS, Windows and Linux, plus a terminal CLI
Where it falls short
- Free plan limits are described only as limited, with no numbers given
- Plus plan is Grok models only; third-party models are billed separately
- Pricing page bundles Grok and X features, so plan comparisons take care

Cursor is a desktop editor built on the VS Code codebase. Cursor's docs describe a one-click import of VS Code extensions, themes, settings and keybindings. It also offers a CLI that runs agents from a terminal or CI scripts, and cloud agents that can be started from a browser or phone. The desktop app is available for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Cursor's pricing page lists a Free plan at $0 per month with limited AI usage, limited agent requests and limited chat requests; the page does not give numeric limits. Individual paid plans are Plus at $8, Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200 per month. Plus is described as an introductory plan where only Grok models are available.
Premium and above add cloud agents, code hosting, AI code reviews and third-party models at API list price, which is billed separately by usage. Teams starts at $30 per user per month and Enterprise is custom. Cursor's docs show annual prices of $80, $300, $1,000 and $2,000 per year for Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra. Older Hobby, Pro, Pro+ and Ultra plans continue for existing customers.
