Price is the clearest difference. Jitsi Meet is free to use, with no account, and its code is Apache-2.0 licensed. Zoom Workplace has a free Basic plan (up to 100 participants, 40 minutes per meeting), then Pro at $14.16 per user per month billed annually ($16.99 billed monthly) and Business at $18.33 annually ($21.99 monthly), in USD.
Zoom Workplace is a wider product. Beyond meetings it lists Chat, Phone, Mail and Calendar, Scheduler, Whiteboard, Clips, Docs and AI note-taking. Jitsi Meet focuses on the call itself: screen sharing, chat, reactions, polls, virtual backgrounds, and Etherpad for shared documents.
On platforms, Zoom lists iPhone/iPad and Android apps, a web app, a browser extension and an Outlook plug-in, plus a desktop app. Jitsi lists web browsers, Android (Google Play and F-Droid) and iOS, with web and native SDKs for developers. Neither fetched site page named desktop operating systems for its main app.
Hosting is the trade-off. Zoom runs everything for you. With Jitsi you can use the free demo at meet.jit.si or deploy and operate your own instance, which gives control but means you maintain the server.
