Mattermost is a collaboration platform with channels, threads, playbooks for workflows, calls and screen sharing, boards, and a REST API with webhooks and slash commands. Its site lists web, desktop and mobile apps. The server runs on any 64-bit Linux system and can be self-hosted, in a private cloud or air-gapped.
Mattermost's licensing is mixed. Its licence file says compiled versions from Mattermost, Inc. are under MIT, source used to build your own compiled versions is under AGPL v3.0 (or a commercial licence), and some admin tools and config files are under Apache 2.0. Its docs describe a free, open source Team Edition (MIT, under 250 activated users) and a free Entry edition that runs on the Enterprise binary under a commercial licence.
Paid plans are Professional, Enterprise and Enterprise Advanced. The pricing page shows no prices, only Contact Sales, Get Pricing and Request Quote. It says paid licences are sold as prepaid annual subscriptions based on seat count, and each server needs its own licence.
