Grok
AI assistant from xAI for chat, voice, file analysis, and image and video creation, on web, iOS, Android and X.
Our verdict
What it does well
- Free plan includes daily Grok access, per the X Subscription announcement
- Five individual tiers: Free, Plus $8, Premium $30, Super $100, Ultra $200 a month
- Chat, voice, file uploads, and image and video creation in one app
Where it falls short
- Free plan limits are listed only as "Limited", with no published numbers
- Plans and names changed in Oct 2026; older SuperGrok pages still exist
- Companions are iOS-only; extra usage credits can only be bought on the web

Grok is an AI assistant from xAI (current xAI docs pages name the company SpaceXSI). The official docs describe chat for questions, brainstorming and writing, voice conversation, file uploads for analysis and summarization, connectors to email, files and calendar, and image and video creation with Grok Imagine. It is available on the web at grok.com, in iOS and Android apps, and inside X (the Grok tab on X); X itself runs the Grok-in-X service, and X Premium refunds are handled by X.
Pricing now follows "The X Subscription", introduced on October 12, 2026. Free is $0 with daily Grok access, a starter allowance for Cursor's coding agents and standard X, with usage listed only as limited. Individual paid plans are Plus $8/month ($80/year), Premium $30/month ($300/year, 4x Plus usage), Super $100/month ($1,000/year, 15x) and Ultra $200/month ($2,000/year, 50x). Prices exclude sales tax. Team plans are $30, $100 and $200 per seat for Premium, Super and Ultra; Plus is not offered for teams.
Paid plans share one weekly usage pool across the Grok apps, the Grok tab on X and Cursor. Past the allowance you can buy Extra Usage Credits (web only, starting at $5, expiring after one year), turn on Auto Top Up, or upgrade; free-tier Chat and Voice access continues separately. The announcement says existing SuperGrok, Cursor and X Premium subscribers can keep their current plan and price, and switching is optional.
