Our verdict

Cal.com is a good fit for individuals and small teams who want a cheaper, flexible Calendly alternative with a free plan. Skip it if open-source licensing is a requirement for the hosted product; look at the separate Cal.diy fork instead, with fewer features.

What it does well

  • Free plan says 'free forever' with unlimited event types and calendars
  • Teams plan is $12 per user per month, below Calendly's $16 Teams price
  • Free plan imports events from Calendly with one click

Where it falls short

  • Production Cal.com code went closed source in April 2026
  • Free plan is for 1 user; Teams features need a paid plan
  • Open-source Cal.diy fork has no hosted version and drops Teams, SSO and Workflows
The Cal.com website
The official Cal.com website, 16 October 2026.

Cal.com describes itself as fully customizable scheduling software for individuals, businesses that take calls, and developers building platforms where users meet users. It connects to Slack, Salesforce and 100+ more apps, and its Free plan lists a mobile app and a browser extension.

Its pricing page lists Free (free forever, 1 user), Teams at $12 per user per month, Organizations at $28 per user per month, and Enterprise with custom annual pricing. The Teams and Organizations prices are shown on the yearly option with a 'Save 25%' label and a 14-day free trial.

Licensing changed in 2026. In a post dated April 14, 2026, Cal.com said it moved its production codebase to closed source for security reasons. It released a community fork, Cal.diy, under the MIT licence; the old calcom/cal.com GitHub address now serves Cal.diy. Cal.diy is self-host only and removes Teams, Organizations, Insights, Workflows and SSO/SAML.
