ChatGPT is OpenAI's AI chat assistant. Its pricing page lists a free plan, Go at $8 per month, Plus at $20 per month and Pro from $100 per month, plus Business and Enterprise plans priced per user. Muse is Meta's personal AI agent: it is free up to a usage limit, with Power at $20 per month and Maximum at $100 per month.

On platforms, ChatGPT is on web, iOS and Android, with Mac and Windows downloads and a Chrome extension, according to the ChatGPT data on this site. Muse is listed by Meta for iOS, Android and muse.ai, with a Mac app mentioned on muse.ai, and you can also talk to it directly in WhatsApp.

The main difference in how they are described is focus. Meta presents Muse as an agent that runs on its own cloud computer, browses the web, fills in forms, makes purchases with one-time cards through Link by Stripe, and keeps working after you close the app, asking before it sends or pays. ChatGPT's pricing page lists text chats, uploads, image creation, voice, deep research, memory, projects and scheduled tasks as features that vary by plan.

Availability and limits differ too. Meta's pages say Muse is available to people in the US and Canada aged 18 and over, and that Muse and its subscriptions are in limited testing; the free limit size is not published. ChatGPT's free plan lists unlimited text chats subject to abuse guardrails, and ChatGPT's paid plans do not publish numeric limits on the pricing page. The paid tiers of the two are not directly comparable, since Muse's are measured in weekly tokens.
