Our verdict

Good for creators and teams who want to generate and edit short AI video in a browser, and who can try it on the free credits first. Skip it if you need a free plan for regular use or want to run models locally.

What it does well

  • Free plan with 125 one-time credits and no time limit
  • Paid plans remove watermarks and unlock all image and video models
  • Also has a developer API platform and iOS and Android apps

Where it falls short

  • Free videos carry a Runway watermark and free credits are a one-time deposit
  • Standard and Pro credits do not roll over; Max rolls over for one month
  • Free plan only includes a selected set of models, which can change
The Runway website
The official Runway website, 16 October 2026.

Runway describes Runway Creative as a cloud-based creative platform for generating and editing video, images and audio in one workspace. It runs in the browser, with iPhone and Android apps linked from the site, and Runway Dev provides an API platform for developers.

The Free plan gives 125 credits once, a selection of models, and 5GB of asset storage. Credits cannot be bought on Free, and videos generated on it carry a Runway watermark. Paid plans listed on the pricing page: Standard $15/month ($12 billed annually, 625 credits a month), Pro $35 ($28, 2,250 credits), and Max $95 ($76, 9,500 credits). Standard and Pro credits do not roll over; Max credits roll over for one month.

Standard and above remove watermarks and give access to all image and video models, with 5, 15 and 20 parallel generations on Standard, Pro and Max. Runway's help center says the older Unlimited plan is switching to Max, and offers a separate affiliate program.
