Google Drive
Google's cloud file storage and sharing, with 15 GB free per Google account.
Our verdict
What it does well
- Every Google account gets up to 15 GB at no charge
- Edit Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Office files together in real time
- Drive for desktop syncs files on Windows and macOS; apps exist for iOS and Android
Where it falls short
- The free 15 GB is shared with Gmail and Google Photos
- Drive for desktop is named only for Windows and macOS, not Linux
- Shared drives and some other features need a paid Workspace plan

Google Drive stores and shares files online. Google's Drive page describes opening and editing files from any device, editing more than 100 file types including PDF and Microsoft Office files, setting viewer, commenter or editor permissions, and saving Gmail attachments to Drive. Drive for desktop is listed for Windows and macOS, and there are apps for iOS and Android.
Every Google account includes up to 15 GB of cloud storage at no charge, shared across Drive, Gmail and Google Photos. More storage comes through Google One or Google Workspace. The Google One plans page we checked listed Basic at 100 GB, Google AI Plus at 2 TB and Google AI Pro at 5 TB, with monthly or annual billing (annual says save up to 16%). Google Workspace pooled storage per user was listed as 30 GB (Starter), 2 TB (Standard) and 5 TB (Plus).
Our fetches showed prices in UAE dirhams and euros rather than US dollars, so no US prices are given. Google says shared drives, e-signatures and some other features are available only on some Workspace Business and Enterprise plans.
