Grammarly describes itself as an AI writing assistant that proofreads, adjusts tone and suggests rewrites. It runs on Windows and Mac, on iPhone, iPad and Android, in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, and in Microsoft Office and Google Docs. QuillBot is a suite of separate tools (Paraphraser, Grammar Checker, Summarizer, AI Detector and others) with apps and extensions for Chrome, Edge, Safari, Word, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.

Both have free plans. Grammarly Free covers spelling and grammar checks, tone visibility and 100 AI prompts per month. QuillBot's free Paraphraser needs no sign-up and offers two modes (Standard and Fluency), and QuillBot's pages list a free Grammar Checker, AI Detector, Summarizer, Citation Generator and Translate.

On paid pricing, Grammarly Pro is listed at $12 per month and adds full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustment, AI-text and plagiarism detection and 2,000 AI prompts per member per month. QuillBot's FAQ page lists Premium at $8.33 per month billed annually ($99.95), $13.31 per month billed every 3 months and $19.95 monthly, with nine preset Paraphraser modes plus unlimited custom modes. We could not read QuillBot's live pricing page, so confirm its current price before buying.

In short, choose Grammarly if you want one assistant that follows you across apps, and QuillBot if you want a set of rewriting and summarizing tools with a generous free entry point.
